Throne introduces the Gut Health Coach, a first of its kind feature that bridges your daily habits and lifestyle with your personalized gut health data.
Throne's Gut Health Coach is our newest feature in the app!
Gut Health Coach combines your gut health and hydration scores with your logged journal entries to help uncover patterns between your daily habits and your gut health. It gives you the contextual data that's easy to miss.
Our team created Gut Health Coach to do something that's never been done before: connect behaviors, diet, and lifestyle to give you deeply personalized data, so you can finally see what is actually moving the needle for your body.
Gut health is individualized and is not determined by one single event. It is shaped continuously by the full picture of how you live. The Gut Health Coach is the next layer to personalized insight.
How It Works: Step by Step
The first time you open the Gut Health Coach, you will fill out a one-time intake questionnaire. It asks about any diagnosed conditions like IBS, IBD, GERD, or celiac disease, your typical bowel habits, symptoms like bloating, gas, or urgency, foods you already suspect may be affecting you, your sleep and stress patterns, and your personal goals. It only happens once, and it helps the Coach personalize everything that follows. If you aren’t ready to fill it out, you can skip straight to journaling and come back to it later.

Your First Journal Entry
There are two ways to start a journal entry: directly after a session in your session details, or by tapping the plus button and selecting Add Journal Entry.
The Coach asks one question to get you started: what happened today? The entry is completely freeform. There is no list of categories to check off and no structured form to fill out. You type your response or use voice dictation through your keyboard to explain whatever is relevant in your own words.
Example of responses:
- "Ate heavier than usual last night."
- "Stressed about a work deadline all week."
- "Slept terribly, maybe four hours."
- "Long flight, barely moved all day."
- “Drank 2 espresso martinis last night.”

Your Daily and Weekly Insights
As you start logging consistently in the app, the Coach communicates back through a daily touchpoint and a weekly summary. These insights will appear in your Insights tab at the bottom of your overview screen.
After individual sessions, you may see a Today's Takeaway on your dashboard, a short summary comparing your latest data to your recent trends and flagging anything worth noticing. Each week, the Weekly Review ties everything together: gut health and hydration score, bathroom habits, and your journal entries. It surfaces patterns and suggests specific things worth testing in the week ahead, grounded in your own data.

Note: Your Coach needs at least five qualifying days before it can start drawing conclusions about a factor, such as a habit, food, supplement, symptom, or lifestyle detail. A qualifying day means you logged that factor and had a stool session on the same day. The app shows how many more qualifying days are needed before that factor can unlock an insight.
For anyone with IBS or a known or suspected gut sensitivity, the Coach gives you a way to finally test what you have always suspected. Rather than eliminating a food and hoping for the best, you can log diligently on the days you eat a suspected trigger, compare your gut health score over the following 48 hours against days you avoided it, and repeat that across five or more instances.
Watch Patterns Surface Over Time
Throne creates a personalized Gut Health Score (based on stool form and frequency) by gathering objective data from each time you use the toilet. It’s important to know, what you log does not impact or change that score. Journal entries only help the Coach interpret your score by connecting your habits and context to the changes it sees, giving you a clearer picture of what is driving your score.
After each journal entry, the Coach compares what you logged to changes in your gut health data over the following 48 hours. It looks for recurring relationships, things that consistently show up before your strongest gut health days and things that consistently show up before your weakest ones.

Factors are displayed on a scale from Hurts to Helps. The more you engage with your insights, the more insightful the Coach gets. You can react with a thumbs up or thumbs down, confirm what is right and flag what feels off. Every response goes directly back to the team and shapes what gets refined next.
What to Expect in the First Few Weeks
The goal early on is to build a daily journaling habit. Brief, consistent entries will always be worth more than detailed ones logged sporadically. Check in consistently with the app, log what is happening in your life every day, and give the Coach what it needs to work. Plan for roughly one to two weeks before insights begin to surface for your most frequently tracked factors. The more you put in, the clearer the picture gets. For the first time ever, you can see exactly what is influencing your gut health and take action.
Note: The Gut Health Coach is currently in beta. In order to use the feature, you'll need to ensure your app is updated with the latest release. Features and insights will continue to improve as we learn, and your insights become more personalized the more you use it.

You do your business. You see your data.
Throne is a smart sensor that clips onto your toilet and reads every session automatically — stool consistency, frequency, hydration, and regularity — without any logging. It turns the patterns you would never notice into personalized insight about your gut health and hydration.
