Introducing Throne’s Chief of Science: Dr. Karan

For almost three years, we’ve been quietly building Throne—long days in the workshop, endless testing cycles, and even more conversations about stool and urine than you would expect. Through all of it, one belief has guided us: health becomes easier to manage when your body’s signals are made visible and useful.

Earlier this year, someone reached out who had been thinking about this exact concept for years, too. We felt an instant connection over our shared vision.

That person was Dr. Karan Rajan.

Today, we’re honored to announce that he has joined Throne as our Chief of Science. (Apple / Spotify / YouTube)

An immediate alignment

Dr. Karan sees the same promise in Throne that we see: the power of small, everyday signals to guide better choices, support long-term wellness, and give people a new level of connection to what’s happening inside their bodies.

Our earliest conversations with him felt strangely familiar. He spoke about gut health the way we do: with curiosity, warmth, scientific rigor, and a deep commitment to helping people feel better without fear or shame. He described the exact kind of product he wished existed during medical school: one that could quietly analyze waste, surface important patterns, and help people understand their bodies in a more meaningful way.

He also spoke about hydration and stool patterns with the same fascination we have. He talked about inflammation, gas composition, bowel rhythm, and the ultimate vision to save lives from colorectal cancer in a way that made us feel like he’d been sitting in our brainstorming sessions all along. And he did it with an empathy that matched exactly our ethos: empower people with knowledge, don’t overwhelm them with jargon.

The alignment was immediate and complete. It felt like meeting someone who had been walking the same path from the opposite direction.

Dr. Karan brings a rare combination of clinical experience, scientific depth, and an ability to communicate health in a way that feels human. For more than a decade, he has been one of the most trusted medical educators online, helping millions of people understand their bodies with clarity and honesty. He knows firsthand how complicated it is for people to be smart about their gut health and how meaningful it can be when they better understand it.

What this means for our members

Bringing Dr. Karan into Throne strengthens the heart of what we are building. His perspective helps us interpret what the device sees in clearer, more meaningful ways, and it helps us explain those insights to members in language that feels supportive rather than clinical.

His guidance will continue to shape how Throne communicates about digestion, hydration, urinary flow, and patterns in daily bathroom behavior. It will influence how we design education inside the app, how we teach members to understand their own gut rhythms, and how we contextualize trends that matter. His voice will make Throne more reassuring, more intuitive, and more grounded in real human experience.

Our members can expect insights that feel clearer, explanations that feel more connected to their daily lives. And as Throne grows, his role will help ensure that the product continues to evolve with his signature blend of rigorous science, everyday empathy, and a healthy dose of fun.

Looking ahead

Throne and Dr. Karan share the belief that gut health shouldn’t feel mysterious. Hydration shouldn’t be an afterthought. Bathroom habits shouldn’t feel embarrassing. And caring for your body shouldn’t require guesswork.

We’re building a future where the bathroom biosignals you’ve always had become signals you finally understand. Bringing him into our team is a major step toward that future.

We’re grateful, we’re energized, and we can’t wait for you to experience what’s coming next.

Welcome to Throne, Dr. Karan.

We’re just getting started.
